OpenMind was co-founded by social psychologist Jonathan Haidt, the author of the bestsellers The Righteous Mind and The Coddling of the American Mind. Since launching in 2017, our tools have reached more than 45,000 people in more than 450 classrooms and 50 organizations and companies, across 15 countries.
OpenMind is embarking on an ambitious plan to develop an extended set of online and in-person educational tools for universities, high schools, and workplaces. As part of the learning solutions team, the Senior Learning Designer will play a critical role in this process. They will work collaboratively with our research team to translate complex behavioral science research into practical and impactful content. We are looking for a creative and fast-learning professional with deep knowledge of educational design principles and a knack for creating engaging content. The Senior Learning Designer will:
Work closely with the Director of Learning Solutions and Research Director to define learning objectives and bring the best behavioral science research to life through engaging educational content.
Work closely with advisors and SMEs throughout the development process, to ensure content accuracy and alignment with learning objectives.
Lead the creation of learning design assets (including writing storyboards and design documents) that may include ILT, eLearning, mobile learning, custom applications, PDFs, videos, and other types of learning materials.
Manage contractors engaged in learning design of a wide variety of learning assets.
Work closely with the team to brainstorm creative ways to present content, while in storyboard or design document development.
Partner with the learning technology team to ensure successful development of any elearning or digital learning assets.
Incorporate feedback from OpenMind team members, advisors, or learners.
Work closely with the Director of Learning Solutions and Research Director to evaluate learner data and creatively address opportunities and problems.
5-7 years of experience in learning design, ideally with some experience teaching in a classroom and some experience working in a corporate setting. This should include experience designing content for development in common eLearning authoring tools, including Storyline, Captivate, Evolve, or other similar tools.
Ability to write effectively for a college, high school, and adult audience, while understanding the nuances of both environments.
A passion for and knowledge of psychology and behavioral science concepts.
Extensive experience with project planning and management.
Ability to collaborate with a development team to create engaging, interactive learning experiences.
Demonstrated ability to create in-person learning experiences.
Ability to synthesize research and translate complex concepts into engaging and practical content.
Deep and demonstrated knowledge of learning design principles and Adult Learning Theories.
